Yes, it was love at second sight😄💛 We live in Puerto de la Cruz, known for its tourism in the north of the island. When you arrive in Puerto de la Cruz, the first thing you notice is all the apartment buildings🏢 These were built in the 90s, as there was a hype about the Canary Islands at that time. But at second glance, Puerto de la Cruz offers everything that makes your ❤️ beat faster. Puerto de la Cruz is actually known to everyone. The Loro Park, located in the city near Playa Jardin, is an institution on the island and known worldwide. A visit for the kids is a must. What many people do not know is that the Loro Park has its own foundation, which supports endangered species worldwide and takes care of the conservation of endangered species on our planet🌍 This is important for the future of our children👪 For centuries, Puerto de la Cruz was a fishing village, today the city is known for its tourism. Many colorful small houses adorn the old town of Puerto. The main square of the city, Plaza del Charco, is worth a visit. We often go there because there is a nice playground. Around it, there are many shops, restaurants, and much more to discover. You can park for free on the harbor grounds of the city and go directly to Plaza del Charco or the old town.
Just a few steps from Plaza del Charco, you will find the Plaza del Iglesia. Right next to the magnificent church is a unique Swan Fountain, surrounded by palm trees and laurel leaves, where you can take particularly beautiful photos 📸 or take a break on one of the benches. The Lago Martiánez is a large open-air seawater swimming pool. A must for young and old. The swimming pool was designed by the great artist César Manrique. You can still find his masterpieces on the Canary Islands. The little ones can also splash around in the smaller pools. In the middle of the Lago, there is an island that can be reached via several bridges. There is a restaurant there. Puerto de la Cruz has many hidden beautiful spots, some of which we will show you next time. The city is easy to explore with small children and strollers.
