To get from Nusa Lembongan to the small islands in front of Lombok (Gili Islands), we had to ride the fast boat over the sea for almost 2 hours. Luckily, the weather was beautiful and the sea was calm, so we arrived safely on Gili Air.
Since motorized traffic is not allowed on the Gilis, you can either take a horse-drawn carriage on the sandy paths or walk, which is easily possible because the islands are very small.
We spent our days on Gili Air snorkeling, swimming, reading, watching sunsets, and enjoying cocktails. It is a wonderful place to recharge and enjoy good food.
After the Gilis, we went to the mainland of Lombok where we had a private driver for two days, who took us to waterfalls and through the beautiful highlands of Lombok. Strawberries are even grown up there because the climate is significantly cooler than right by the sea.
Of course, we also spent time on the white beaches in the region of Kuta (not the one in Bali!), which are not as crowded as in Bali and invite you to swim and relax.
Today we had to say goodbye to Indonesia with heavy hearts. Hopefully, we will find time soon to visit the many other islands of Indonesia as well.
We flew to Bangkok via Jakarta, where we will spend the next few days before venturing to Myanmar. :-)
Warm regards!
