The alarm goes off at half past 3, yawn, we don't even wake up this early when we go to work. Our Jeep is waiting for us in front of the hotel. After a short drive, we arrived at Yala National Park and the safari began. We were all excited to see what wild animals we would encounter. However, they didn't seem to agree that they had to pose in front of our camera lenses. Except for some deer, beautiful birds, a somersaulting peacock, iguanas, water buffaloes, monkeys, eagles, and snake-eating mongooses, the larger predators were rather shy. The very large termite mounds were also impressive. But suddenly, our driver accelerated and raced through the entire national park to the other side, one hand on the steering wheel, the other on the phone. We were shaken vigorously with our puzzled faces. What is happening? When we arrived at our destination, we saw a leopard having breakfast, apparently there were monkeys 😊.
On the way back to the hotel, we were greeted by an elephant in the middle of the road.
In the afternoon, we climbed to the summit of Little Adams Peak. Here, the Tamil tea pickers live among their tea plantations and usually walk on all fours in the evenings.
