Contrasts in Ketchikan

வெளியிடப்பட்டது: 18.06.2018

The nightly crossing from Prince Rupert began on a magnificent evening. Driving our stately 'Verny' into the tight belly of the ferry was accompanied by slightly elevated blood pressure. The first hour on deck was full of impressions, from the departure of the Malaspina to the loading of a container ship to the sunset over the island kingdom of the Inside Passage. Arrival 02:45. So look for a parking space to get some rest.

Strengthened by a good cappuccino, a 'shopping raid' on the Tongass Trading Company, we crossed over to Ward Lake (no problem with Scout, thanks Masi) and set out on the Perseverence Lake Trail. This got the tired limbs moving...

for the Deer Mountain Trail, a tasty treat, with a breathtaking view of the Tongass Rainforest and Ketchikan. Bald eagles whistle past us at the summit. As we make our way back, a black bear runs across the slope below us. The bear bell jingled eagerly during the descent.

Today is maintenance day, Verny's fresh water tank is empty after yesterday's shower and our sheiks need a little rest.

Cheers for now and stay tuned
