The night was as expected short. At 4 o'clock jet lag became noticeable. I was wide awake and it was difficult to fall back asleep. Nevertheless, I was able to doze off a bit.
As almost always at home, I calculated my time until breakfast to be tight. It became apparent already in the shower that it was probably too tight. Apart from having to push the lever down for the water, it also took a moment for the water to get a bit warmer. But at least it worked.
I managed to get to breakfast reasonably early and there was a positive surprise waiting for us. On one hand, the decor was like at a dance ball. On the other hand, the buffet was very generous. From salad - which is somewhat unusual for us - to various egg variations, salmon, and even burgers, it had everything one could desire.
After a personal greeting by the probably best director on ski slopes, Bni Giger, we headed towards the bus shuttle. The ride to Jeongseong, where the speed disciplines will take place, took about 40 minutes, provided that the wind conditions allow it. Today, the slopes couldn't run because of the wind. Did this mean the end of the workday for us? No, not at all! Snow groomers were organized for passenger transport. Two lucky ones were allowed to sit in the cabin, while we tried to make ourselves somewhat comfortable in the bucket on the shovel. This lasted only a short while, and then three of us - including myself - were called out again. Each of us was allowed to take a seat on a snowmobile. My driver started last. He accelerated and quickly caught up with and overtook the snowmobiles that had started just before us. After what felt like about 12 minutes, we were the first ones to arrive at the top. An icy wind blew against us. Luckily, we could warm up a bit in a container until our colleagues arrived with the snow groomer at the top of the men's downhill starting hill.
Until lunchtime, we managed to lay the first TV cables. This was not easy under the adverse conditions, especially for Wassili in terms of speed. After lunch, we went to areas that were calmer in terms of wind. We were able to lay a few more cables. Conclusion of the day: We were able to lay some cables, but we still have a lot of potential for improvement in terms of quantity.
For dinner, we treated ourselves to an Asian noodle soup. It was quite large and had a good spiciness. I think we will definitely enjoy a soup like this a few more times in the coming days and weeks.
