Just caught

Today we drive from Alta to Tromsø - the capital of the Northern Lights. So far they have persistently avoided us 🥲, but what can you do... one snowfall, one clouds, one time no solar winds - it just can't be done to order. The trip to Tromsø almost always goes along the fjords - so it's quite entertaining and has a beautiful landscape.

The weather is mediocre, and so is the road. I just have a moment of shock when out of nowhere the street is completely covered in snow and to make matters worse, a car comes rushing along and whizzes through the snow (all-wheel drive!). After just a few meters I come to a halt in the snow, am able to back up (there is little traffic anyway) and then dig through with a lot of momentum and gripping the steering wheel. 😅

To shorten the route, we take the ferry across a fjord twice instead of driving out (saving over 100km).

There is a distance of 22km between the two ferries and you have exactly 20 minutes to catch the second ferry. Wilfried drives a rally and... we can do it in the final print!

On the way we order a Northern Lights trip on a ship online. If there are no northern lights, you have a second chance on another day - hopefully tomorrow, because the day after tomorrow we leave Tromsø again. The trip starts at 9 p.m. and lasts 3 hours. I'll report on it tomorrow. Please keep your fingers crossed!
