Tour data: Distance 135.3 kilometers, Ø 21.3 km/h, duration 6:21 hours
Weather: In Copenhagen, it was still quite overcast, then it slowly got better until the bright sunshine. The temperature has also improved positively. Now at 6 p.m., we have a pleasant 17°.
Actually, I would have liked to have looked at Copenhagen a little, especially since my hotel was right in the center. But the cloudy weather kept me from it. I preferred to go straight to the track, as there were a few kilometers I wanted to cover.
Just before half past seven, I took my start photo in front of the hotel. Copenhagen reminded me a lot of Amsterdam in terms of bikes. There are tons of them, and everyone drives like mad. So I tried to adopt this driving style.
The cycle paths in Copenhagen are all very wide and well-developed. Special bridges are often built so that cyclists can easily cross important roads. Even outside of Copenhagen, I had very wide cycle paths for a long time, either separately or next to the road. Overall, today I certainly had 80% of the route on pure cycle paths, and the rest were side roads with little traffic.
Today I took the time to ride along the coast. On the one hand, this offers a lot more insights into nature, and on the other hand, I noted down a few things that I wanted to visit. On the one hand, there was a lighthouse that we don't have in Switzerland. There are also cliffs that I haven't seen in the countries I've visited so far. Where the lighthouse is, the cliff has a height of over 40 m.
Another highlight of today's tour was an old church that also stands on this cliff. In summer, there must be a lot of tourists here because even today, there were two buses there, along with many cyclists. In general, I got the impression today that suddenly there are a lot more touring riders on the road. Is that because of the upcoming Pentecost?
About 20 kilometers before my destination, I went shopping again in Præstø for dinner. My hostess today wrote to me that there is no way to shop nearby. By chance, I also found a bicycle dealer there, whom I asked if he could quickly check my brakes. But he said that I should leave my bike there for a day or two. That doesn't seem particularly business-savvy to me. Although my brake pads have already covered more than 3000 km, I trust that they will last longer.
My hostess wrote to me that today is her birthday. And so it could be that she is not at home when I come. But she left the front door open and then wrote on a note that there was beer in the fridge for me. Obviously, she has great trust in her guests.
Now I'm sitting in her garden, enjoying the beer on the one hand and the beautiful sun on the other.
