It's that time again! The next big trip is coming up! 😃
This time it's back to Namibia and for the first time to Botswana and the Victoria Falls. Both countries are between 2 and 2½ times the size of Germany, but each only has a little over 2 million inhabitants, in contrast to the current almost 84 million in Germany! They are therefore extremely sparsely populated and offer a lot of nature to admire! 😉
The journey starts in Windhoek, where I will land on Friday, July 21st. I pick up my rental car directly at the airport. Another Toyota Hilux, but this time without a tent on the roof and a kitchen on the loading area. Overnight stays in lodges. A bit more expensive, but you have the bedroom and bathroom together! 😅
In Windhoek I then meet Cham, the partner of a good friend of mine from Babenhausen, who lived in Namibia for a few years.
After 2 nights we go to Sussusvlei and Deadvlei before we continue to Swakopmund.
On my birthday, I come via Spitzkoppe to the Etosha National Park for the first big animal safari. SLR camera with 2 telephoto zoom lenses is already packed! 👍😉
Then it goes to the Caprivi Strip, more precisely to the Popa Falls. Maybe hippos can already be spotted here! The first for me in the wild! 😃
Then Namibia is already left on the way to the Victoria Falls on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The Chobe National Park that follows is already in Botswana.
From Maun it's off to the Okavango Delta for a probably multi-day trip, I don't know exactly yet.
After a short stopover in the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, the journey ends after more than 5,000 km in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana. From here the return flight on August 12th, arrival in Frankfurt on the 13th! 🙂
