So today, we went to Ayutthaya, a temple city north of Bangkok. Finally out of the big city. That alone felt good. Since we had to check out at 12 o'clock, I thought I could sleep in today, but no, Nora had other plans, she was wide awake at 7 o'clock :) So we had breakfast at "normal" times.

Our train departed at 1:45 pm. We arrived at the train station an hour earlier and our train was already there. There was no one on board yet, so we got off again... just to be safe, you never know :) But gradually the compartment filled up. I was surprised how spacious the trains are from the inside! Take a look at the picture, that's what I call legroom!! Our "Rapid Train" departed right on time, but the speed wasn't very rapid. We slowly made our way through Bangkok, stopping at 12 train stations in the first 15 km. After over an hour, we finally left the city area and then it took another hour at a comfortable pace with the windows open until we reached Ayutthaya.

At the train station, we were greeted by tuk-tuk drivers who took us to the hotel. Did I already mention, we have a pool! It didn't take us 10 minutes to jump in :-) We also met a nice family right away, this time from Holland. Their daughter (2 years old) found it very exciting that we were playing Uno and joined us right away... have you ever tried to explain a card game to a 2-year-old who doesn't understand German or English? But now we know what tiger, lion, and zebra are called in Dutch :-)))

Just now we went to one of the countless roadside restaurants to eat. The food here in Thailand is just so delicious! That alone made the vacation worthwhile!
