San Francisco

Since our Hookah needed an oil change, we drove to San Francisco a day earlier than planned. The traffic on the streets was terrible, but the moment the Golden Gate Bridge appears in front of your eyes, it excuses a lot. A truly impressive work and rightfully a landmark of the city. Unfortunately, it was a bit cloudy due to the season (warm air from the inland meets cold ocean air = low-hanging mist clouds form). We immersed ourselves in the hustle and bustle of this completely different American city. The Victorian architectural style, the hilly streets, and the many colorful and diverse neighborhoods make the city very worth seeing! Former center of the hippie culture and synonymous with the Summer of Love 1967, much has changed here too, but the tolerant lifestyle and liberal atmosphere can still be felt. There is a bit of everything here.... a bit of Prenzlberg, Wedding, X-Kölln, Dahlem, but of course also a lot of poverty and people who have to live in tents on the roadside.

We explored many corners of the city, always going uphill and downhill... and visited all the sights... the port with Fisherman's Wharf and its view of Alcatraz, Lombard Street (the most crooked street in the world), Chinatown (the oldest and largest Chinese community in North America), Union Square with its bustling business and colorful neighborhoods like Misson and Haight-Ashbury, the heart of the hippie movement in the 60s. In the end, we treated ourselves to a ride on the cable car....
