May 11th/42nd day: Completed 6th week! Fontaine - Moroges

வெளியிடப்பட்டது: 11.05.2019

The search for accommodation for the next two days was difficult. Affordable pilgrim hostels were not available, the sisters of Notre-Dame only accommodate during the week. So we had to plan two short stages for today and tomorrow and are/were actually under-challenged.

But we are on the way, so today we visited old Romanesque churches, experienced an unexpected rain shower, and had a lot of relaxation. It is the weekend after all 😊

The old washhouse in Fontaine was a jewel in the morning sun.

But you can also see some pictures to get an idea of a pilgrim hostel:

After a short steep climb, we reached St. Symphorien:

And so the iPhone was protected from the rain until we reached our destination in St-Desert/Moroges after 21 km in the early afternoon.
The church of St-Desert is a small fortress, our accommodation at Moulin Brûlé is not quite affordable, but it's elegant.

Since there was no food available on site, our host drove us to a pizzeria, and so the evening ended well.

I'm really happy about completing the 6th week. Only 10 more days, then half of the planned time is over, and I'm also approaching half of the distance.
Also, I was able to talk to Arni for a long time. It looks like our plans to walk a part of the way together from Le Puy are really well coordinated. Hopefully, it will work out!
Even to Le Puy, there are still about 250 km to go, which is still a long way, and now the first mountains over 1000 meters will come 😢😊
