The plan for our second day of vacation was to drive to the Danish border town of Helsingör, park it there (because the parking spaces there are supposed to be safer than in Copenhagen), take the ferry to Helsingborg on the Swedish side, there Alex who had come there with her boyfriend in the camper they shared and then to cycle to Mölle with Alex and spend the night in a shelter. But plans change.
It all started when we found three broken bicycle locks and one wheel missing on the car in the morning. Someone had stolen Anna's bike overnight. Crap. Apart from the fact that the mood was understandably bad at first, we had to go to the police first. Which in the end didn't get us anywhere, they wouldn't do anything other than let Anna know if her bike ever turned up anywhere. But we also needed a bike for the tour, so we searched Copenhagen and Helsingborg for good bikes with luggage racks, but couldn't find anything. Many shops were closed on Saturdays. There was nothing left to borrow.
After endless back and forth, lots of tears and a Danish friend of Krissi's, with whom we met, the decision was finally made: Alex gave Anna her bike and would not take part in the tour herself, but would continue with her boyfriend in the camper. She would have gotten a rental bike from the next day, which she could have used to ride with us from Monday, but her boyfriend didn't want that. It was really very complicated and a drama through and through.
Around 4 in the afternoon the 4 of us drove off and actually the route would have been nice, even the mood was good again. But now it was pouring rain. Continuously. When we got to the shelter at 7, we were soaked to the skin, as was some of our luggage. Contrary to expectations, the evening in the covered pavilion with pasta and pesto was still quite nice and we were even able to sleep reasonably well.
