Dixieland! Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia

During my last weekend trip, I was on the highways for several hours with Paula and Ricky - and this trip was more than worth it! Our journey took us from South Carolina to Hillsville, Virginia. Every year, the largest flea market in the southeastern part of the USA takes place there. The weather forecast didn't sound good... rain and 16 °C - that was definitely a shock after all the sunshine we had in the past weeks. However, we braved the rain and spent 9 hours at the flea market. But the weather had one positive aspect... the number of visitors was quite moderate.

A day later, we headed towards Georgia, where I will spend the next 3 weeks with Eris and Charles. Our way there led us to Tennessee. We made a stop at the world's largest knife shop - an incredible store, with excellent goods, and very typical for American standards.

Afterwards, we made a short detour to Knoxville to recharge for the rest of the car ride.

All in all, we spent just over 1000 km on the highways in 2 days, but it was definitely worth it!

By the way, the term Dixieland includes all those southern states that fought against the northern states in the Civil War (13). Nowadays, however, only 8 states are referred to as the typical South of the United States.
