Whenever the end of the day approaches in the project and it looks like rain, everyone gets a bit frantic. No one wants to go home AFTER a proper rain shower. The idea of ankle-deep mud with all the outpourings of human existence here in the neighborhood ... unfortunately creepy. Well, maybe some are just afraid of water.
When I wanted to leave the project today, it started raining. It looked pretty dark. I gave my pink steed a good push. Fortunately, the streets were as empty as a ghost town, because no one goes out in the rain unless they have to. Not even by car. I carried my backpack in front, I didn't want to drive over the finish line as Miss Wet-T-Shirt. I must have looked pretty stupid. The bike is a bit too small for me, so in order to prevent the backpack from hitting my knees and then my chin, I had to ride with my legs wide apart. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of that for you.
For Rina, the youngest daughter of the house, there is a big celebration tomorrow. She has just finished school and will start university in March. That cannot be equated with what we understand as a university. Some degree programs are basically just vocational training. But anyway, Rina has finished school and wants to continue. Many young women her age, around 17 or 18, are already mothers, some even twice. But I digress, where was I? Oh yes, tomorrow evening there will be my carrot stew. Ye-es, I have been asked to serve the haute cuisine of German home cooking to a wider audience. Only the closest family will come, about 30 people. That's about 6 kilos of vegetables to chop. I think when I'm back in Germany, I'll invite people to a carrot dinner. Everyone pays what it was worth to them and I will donate the money to the project. Oh, sorry, I'm in donation mode. There is so much missing here that I'm constantly thinking about what could be done.
Temperature 32 degrees, clear as long as it doesn't rain, nice breeze.
