Day 3 Alsace

வெளியிடப்பட்டது: 29.05.2018

After having a nearly forgotten dish, veal kidneys, at the almost only open restaurant Turkheim last night, and enjoying a nightcap on the terrace of the hotel, we started today's stage in high spirits. The goal was the birthplace of Albert Schweizer, Kayserberg.

The weather was very kind to us, 22 degrees and overcast. Ideal hiking weather. First, we crossed Turkheim again and climbed through the vineyards of the town to the heights of the Vosges. The first stage goal was Trois Epis at about 600 m altitude. We bought a baguette and continued. The Galtz observation tower offered wide views of the countryside. Vosges, Rhine Valley, and the Black Forest could be seen in the distance. Thus, the highest point of today's stage was reached. On the way down towards Ammerschwihr, it took us some time to find a suitable picnic spot. But it was all the more beautiful. Wonderful panoramic view of Ammerschwihr, Kayserberg, and the valley behind it. Further back, the Haut Koenigsbourg. Just amazing.

Continuing downhill, leaving the village of Ammerschwihr on the right, the path meandered through the vineyards again.

With Kayserberg, we were greeted with a new impression of Alsace. Slightly larger than the previous towns, many well-visited restaurants, beautiful shops. Kayserberg, we'll see you again!

A cool beer on the hotel balcony, shoes off, and now a few minutes of siesta. What more could you want?
