During the night, the temperature dropped again from 92 to 54 degrees Fahrenheit.
It's quite a back and forth with the weather here.
As always, we woke up early and because today was the day we finally went to Erie to see our son, we got up early and got ready.
We had breakfast at the hotel. Today there was not only sweets...but a lot of sweet...and a bit savory...with scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausages...and you could make your own waffles...and you could also get warm oatmeal...and almost everything was nicely packaged in plastic...😫
After breakfast, we drove to the shore of Lake Ontario, and it was truly breathtaking.
It doesn't look like a lake...it looks like the sea and it even has waves, just like the ones you know from the sea, and it sounds like the sea too, with the wind rustling in your ears and blowing through your hair. Simply beautiful! Even the weather had improved a bit by then, and although it was still quite chilly, it was wonderful to stand on the shore and look out at this huge lake.
I said goodbye reluctantly because the area really impressed me.
On the other hand, we were on the final leg to Erie and wanted to finally hug our son.
So we made our way via Interstate 90. Since we only drove on the highway and somehow didn't want to stop anywhere anymore, we made good progress and arrived in Erie around 2:00 p.m., going straight to the university where our son was already waiting for us.
After a short drive around the campus (I think in this country, people only walk if they specifically want to do sports), we drove together to our vacation home, assessed the situation, and discussed the further course of the day.
Since both of us were pretty exhausted from the past three days, we decided to just have dinner together in the house and enjoy our reunion.
But for that, we had to go to the supermarket again. And when you drive to Wegmans, the term SUPERmarket takes on a whole new dimension.
It's unbelievable what they offer in terms of food and especially ready-made dishes to take away....
Being old school as I am, I mainly bought fresh ingredients and simply prepared them in the oven or pan. It works too...and at least I know what's on my plate.
The evening was lovely, very lovely!
