we flew home to Zurich on Monday evening after a layover in Dubai on Tuesday at 7pm, arriving in Bangkok. Everything went smoothly and both flights were very fast. After spending about an hour at the passport control to get our visa, we made our way to the hotel. Our hotel is located in the city center and we were able to stay on the 17th floor for the first 3 nights.
During the first two days, we experienced a lot and collected many exciting impressions. On the first day, we went to Khaosan Road, a famous street in Bangkok with many restaurants and bars. We also had our first Thai massage there. Afterwards, we took a boat ride on the Chao Phraya River, which led us to a beautiful temple complex where we later had dinner at a charming restaurant. In the evening, we went out for a little while and made a short visit to Soi Cowboy.
Yesterday, we took the Skytrain out of the city center to Huamak. From there, we took a taxi to the Airport Graveyard, a plane cemetery that is not very well-known. It was fascinating to explore the old and abandoned airplanes. The return journey was more challenging than expected because we couldn't find a taxi to take us back. So we had to walk about an hour through the local area to reach a train station. We were afraid that there would be no taxis at all because it had rained heavily for about 15 minutes in the afternoon, flooding some streets and making it impossible to walk everywhere. Eventually, we found a taxi and made our way back to the train station where we took the train back to the hotel. Afterwards, we went to a skybar near our hotel. The view was simply incredible.
Today is our last day in Bangkok before we continue to Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand by night bus.
