Halftime: Cusco

Last weekend I bought a tourist ticket because almost all the ruins were included in our scooter tour. There are also several museums included in Cusco. On Thursday morning, I visited "Qurikancha", a political temple of the Incas and its associated museum. Yesterday, I also visited the "Museo historico regional" because the tourist ticket is only valid for 10 days. On Thursday evening, I went to the theater where folk dances were performed.

After only sleeping 3 hours from Friday to Saturday night because we were in a bar on Friday evening, we left at 4:00 a.m. with a tourist transport towards "la montaña de siete colores". The first stop was a restaurant for breakfast. Then we walked from 4600 meters to 5200 meters at minus 5 degrees. It was really freezing cold. But the landscape was amazing. The tour guide explained that the phenomenon of the colored mountains can only be found three times in the world.

On Sunday, we took a Colectivo to Tambomachay and from there we walked to Pucapucara, Q'enqo, and Sacsayhuamán towards Cusco. All four are Inca ruins. Sacsayhuamán was considered a fortress or city wall. I am still fascinated by how the Incas could build such temples, fortresses, etc. In the "Museo historico regional", it was shown how archaeologists explored the temples. The end of the Inca era due to the arrival of the Spaniards was also depicted. Yesterday evening, we cooked Peruvian food in our apartment. I took a "workshop" in Lima where I learned how to prepare "Causa".
