I had read before about this beach that it is one of the most beautiful in Australia with snowy white sand and turquoise water. But the best part are the quite tame wallabies that live here on the beach. For those who don't know, wallabies are a kind of kangaroo that are quite small and look like baby kangaroos. Well, that sounds like paradise, so let's go there =)
When we arrived and drove over the hill, we could hardly believe our eyes, the beach was absolutely amazing. Right next to it was a great campground. We quickly set up the tent and prepared everything, and then off to the water.
Despite winter, cold, wind, drizzle, and cloudy skies, the water shimmered turquoise blue and gentle waves washed up on the truly powdery white sand. That was it!!! My absolute dream beach (even if my mom doesn't believe me =)
Unfortunately, we didn't see any kangaroos in the evening and the night in the tent was an absolute nightmare. The wind was so strong that the tent shook all night and the tarps banged against each other, so I couldn't close an eye. But we were compensated for that the next morning. Despite the bad weather, we took a little stroll on the beach. No kangaroos there =(
In the distance, Jonas suddenly saw two small black dots moving and we decided to go and take a look. Actually, two little wallabies were hopping along the beach and looking for food. We approached slowly and found out how tame they were. We had enough time to pet the little ones and take some pictures, until they realized that unfortunately we didn't have any food with us and hopped along.
And exactly at this spot, the name "Lucky Bay" lives up to its name. I believe everyone who sees this beach is just happy =)
