East Mount Barren climb

வெளியிடப்பட்டது: 19.03.2019

Happy Birthday Birgit! Unfortunately, she is greeted with a shower right after getting up. We take a walk along the Hamersley Inlet under cloudy skies. It is mostly dried up. Due to the resulting high salt concentration, the beach is covered with dead fish. However, it doesn't smell unpleasant.

Since that is not so attractive, we continue to Sepulcralis Hill. The view from up there is gloomy due to the thick clouds, but you have a panoramic view of all the mountains in the area. As everywhere in the park, the plant variety is impressive here too. The mourning eucalyptus trees are particularly striking, which, according to Aboriginal legend, represent spears in the body of an adulterer.

On our way to our breakfast spot at Cave Point, we see a lot of beautiful Royal Hakea (see photos). They only exist in this region.

Despite the dark sky, we then make our way to East Mount Barren. The climb is not long in terms of distance, but it is very varied and technically demanding in the upper part. In general, the small mountain on top is much more impressive than you would expect from below. It already looks very alpine with jagged rocks. The view is according to the weather.

Afterwards, Birgit deserves a birthday cake. We buy it at the bakery in Hopetoun.

Today ends with a visit to the beach with a little swim at Barren Beach. Because despite the clouds, the temperature has climbed to 31 degrees. Peter even sent us some rays of sunshine. Thank you!

Im wahrsten Sinne ein zackiger Aufstieg! Wo bleiben Fotos der Geburtstagsfeierlichkeiten? Schampus? Romantisches Abendessen?

happy birthday, liebe Birgit! Und ganz schön lange Haare mittlerweile. Hältst du das durch bis Assling?
