19/11/2019 to 20/11/2019 - San Antonio → Ponchatoula → Evergreen Plantation → New Orleans / USA (988 Kilometers)

There were several kilometers ahead of us, so we covered the distance from San Antonio to Ponchatoula without many stops. We found accommodation in Ponchatoula for one night and continued to Evergreen Plantation the next day. We were now in the state of Louisiana, where typical southern plantations are part of the landscape. We could not visit Evergreen Plantation on our own, and that's a good thing. We took a small bus with 10 passengers and a tour guide and toured the property, learning a lot about the history of the Mississippi property and the life and work of plantation owners and workers. Of the 37 buildings that still exist today, the main building, the kitchen, bathrooms, and 22 slave houses are included. We visited the owners' residence and several slave houses, walked and drove along oak avenues, just like in the movies, and got a very good impression of the world back then. The plantation is one of the best-preserved in the South and is often used as a filming location. Some scenes from Django Unchained were filmed here. After this great and impressive visit, our journey continued to New Orleans. However, we had to make another stop at the airport to visit our car rental company. Our beloved Mazda CX5, which had covered 4,950 miles, needed a service and an oil change. Our new companion is called GMC Terrain.
