15/02/2023 to 16/02/2023 - Veragua Rainforest / Costa Rica

வெளியிடப்பட்டது: 18.02.2023

Today, the plan was to sleep in and then take the bus from Turrialba to Siquirres at 12 o'clock, heading east. We changed buses and continued to Liverpool. There were banana plantations all along the way. There were so many that I almost believe all the bananas sold in our supermarket come from this region. We were picked up at a bus stop in Liverpool and taken to Veragua Rainforest Park. According to the internet, the trip should take a total of 2.5 hours. However, we did not account for the relaxed pace of Central America, so it took us over 4 hours to arrive here. We spent the next two nights in the Veragua Lodge, deep in the jungle. On our first day, we went on a night walk with our guide Tibi. We walked for two hours in the pitch-black rainforest, searching for animals. We found some. The next morning, our day started at 7:30 am with a Costa Rican breakfast of rice with beans, sausages, cheese, and fruit. Then we put on our rubber boots again and headed into the deep rainforest. With a walking stick, we descended steeply on a little-used discovery path. After seeing many animals, we admired the Puma Waterfall, went back up with a cable car, and enjoyed a delicious lunch at the park's restaurant. After refueling, we visited the terrarium, the insect museum, and the butterfly garden. Then we had a lunch break. The day continued with dinner and then we went on another 2-hour night walk, this time steeply downhill to a small stream. During the two days in the rainforest, Tibi told us a lot about the different species of animals and showed us the most colorful and dangerous frogs, snakes, reptiles, spiders, birds, sloths, coatis, and plants in their natural habitat. It's simply a great place to relax and enjoy nature.
