Chapter 5: Zipolite

At night, we traveled by bus from the state of Chiapas to Oaxaca. Since we were seeking tranquility after a week of city life, our next destination was the beach of Zipolite. Here we found a beautiful hideaway, Villa Escondida (escondida = hidden, it was indeed hidden in the jungle). From there, we were just a five-minute walk from the beach. Zipolite has a particularly pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. At this beach, you meet many special characters; it seems to be a place where former surfers find peace. Here, you also get the feeling that there are no rules or guidelines. In Zipolite, you can walk around however you please and be accepted by everyone, whether you are well-groomed or not, dressed or naked, everyone is welcome here!
