HERE WE GO!
After an early wake-up call but a cozy breakfast, we set off with packed backpacks and plenty of provisions with the McE chauffeur to Merano.
From there, we first take a ride on the Hochmuthbahn to reach the first 1,300m high.
From there, we initially tackled part of the Merano High Trail, before later climbing up to 2,250m on part of the Franz-Huber-Steig. The path was insane! We crossed gravel fields and gigantic stones, through small patches of mist and across open meadows. We encountered a large herd of goats with at least 50 animals, freely grazing herds of cows, and marmots.
Around 15:00, we arrived at our accommodation for the night, the Rifugio Nasereit in Parcines, where we had a four-person room to ourselves and felt very comfortable. After a refreshing shower, we had coffee, cake, and cold drinks, and after some relaxation, we had a nice evening by the tile stove playing a few rounds of Rummy and enjoying a delicious dinner from the hut!
