To begin where I left off last time - after I had fully recovered from malaria, I felt the need to finally get out of the city. Accordingly, I spontaneously booked a cabin by the Muhazi Lake in the eastern part of Kigali. So I spent a weekend there, lounging by the shore, reading, writing, and just relaxing. I can definitely recommend it. The following week, it was quite calm in Kigali. Most of the German volunteers were in Uganda for the Nyege-Nyege Festival, and at school, we had 'Mid-Term Exams' - practically nothing more than exams that are written intensively over a week, and for which we volunteers are not qualified to supervise. So instead, I had free time, which I couldn't complain about. After another relatively quiet weekend, Monday finally brought the repeatedly postponed friendly match of our Esperance team (which has never played together) against the U21 of AS Kigali - currently the second-placed team in the Rwandan top league. The U21 team plays in the third division, so I didn't have too high hopes, but we actually won 2-3. And after the first week of regular work in quite a while and hundreds of controlled exams, it seems that a more eventful weekend is ahead, as my roommate is celebrating her birthday at our house, among other things. More on this in 2 weeks.
