We got up late in the morning as our bus was at noon. I had booked a little VR experience in waterford as a "birthday" tour.
Svea and hanah joined me aswell and after we walked around waterford a bit more, since last time we just quickly passed through before heading to tramore beach.
I was excited for the VR game since I already played a few in switzerland and they were always good fun. We had booked a VR escape room and could choose between 9 different ones.
We went with the Chernobyl escape room on "medium" difficulty. The description said that we would travel back in time to try and stop chernobly from happening, which sounded quite cool.
We got equipped with the VR gear, sadly the gear was a lot simpler than in switzerland. It was just controllers and cable VR glasses, while the ones in switzerland have full hand and feet sensors and are also wireless.
Also we were not able to walk around freely but just use our controllers to teleport around. And we were in seperate rooms so we could talk to each other but not actually interact with each other.
Mine had some technical problems but after kind of fixing it we were able to start.
It wasn't really about stopping Chernobyl from happening. We just visited different famous places around Chernobyl and solved some puzzles.
The puzzles were either quite easy or super complex there was no middle ground really. But the staff gave us some tipps so we were able to continue.
Sadly we also didn't really get to "visit" the power plant itself but just places around Chernobyl.
There were some cool scenes as we saw some ghosts from people and animals that gave us hints or we saw the big reactor explosion from outside and tried our best to stop the fire with some fire hoses but they didn't help much.
We managed to complete all the puzzles but it didn't help in preventing Chernobyl. The adventure just kind of ended. So it was all in all a bit disappointing.
But svea and hanah had much fun since it was the first time that they ever tried VR.
Also I had a lot of trouble to "walk" in the real world again once it was over, since I got used to just klick and teleport for 45minutes.
We then walked around waterford and visited some old viking sights which were quite beautiful and had a lot history describing every piece.
Then we got something to eat before returning back to clonmel. On the bus we actually met Charlotte, a german girl that we play badminton with from time to time.
We got back home and booked to watch the new guardians of the galaxy for tomorrow but otherwise will probably take it easy.
