Sardinia Day 2 - Ciao Sardegna!

Publicerad: 27.05.2023

The first day in Sardegna started after breakfast, as it should for a choir, with a two and a half hour choir practice.

Refreshed from lunch at the hotel, we departed in the early afternoon by bus towards Siniscola. During the drive on very winding country roads, we had the opportunity to admire the landscape of the Supramonte mountains and made a spontaneous stop at a marble quarry. Of course, we couldn't miss the obligatory "Grubbafoddo" in front of this impressive scenery!

We continued past the Mediterranean flora of many olive groves and pine trees, as well as beautiful untouched nature, and past pastel-colored houses. We made a detour to the small coastal village of Santa Lucia. There, we spent about two hours at the beach, enjoying the sun and cooling off in the sea.

In the evening, the first concert of the trip took place at 8 p.m. in Siniscola at the Chiesa San Giovanni Battista. This was also the first concert where the girls could wear their new blue dresses! The Italian translation of Thomas' introductions to the pieces was provided by the father of one of our singers, Giovanni Bergamasco, who will accompany us on our journey from now on together with his wife. Due to the large church acoustics, where the sound resonates for a long time, we mainly performed slow sacred a cappella pieces, which were rewarded with standing ovations from the audience. The local music school MEA then provided dinner, and of course, we took the opportunity to perform pieces such as "Viva la Vida" or "The Auld Triangle" (which we learned in Ireland last year!) for our hosts. The first day ended with the return trip to our hotel in Dorgali, where everyone enjoyed their individual evening.
