On 22.02, we visited the Europa League match between Atlético Madrid and FC Copenhagen through an unbeatable offer from our university.
It all started excitingly when I researched the way for my roommate Anina and me by public transport and thought, 'great, it's quite fast to go to the stadium by train!'... well, unfortunately, we ended up in fare zone B during the short train ride, where my ticket was no longer valid. The patient controller explained to me slowly in Spanish what was going on, I paid my 'fine' and we were able to continue - by the way, back in zone A.
When we arrived at the stadium, we were amazed that it was still so empty half an hour before the game started - then we remembered that we are in Spain and things are always approached a bit more leisurely here. The whole experience was definitely worth it and Atlético won the game and advanced to the next round of the Europa League. Unfortunately, it got really cold in the stadium after sunset. The weather is currently not very southern European, so we are hoping for March.
I spent the weekend relatively relaxed, went out to eat on Gran Vía with some people on Friday, and then took a leisurely stroll in the city today, ending up sitting in the sun in Retiro Park. Tomorrow will be a day of studying at the university, after all, I'm here to study too. ;-)
Next week, my parents will come visit me here, which I'm very excited about.
