Peniscola
After a little refreshment at the beautiful beach hotel, our bus picks us up. After an hour, we arrive in Peniscola. A beautiful small, old town. The old Greek houses are surrounded by a big city wall. This town was a very important place in the history of Spain. Many groups wanted to take over this town because it was strategically very important. In this small town, we get a guided tour from a local lady. After this very long tour, we enjoy a very delicious lunch at the restaurant "Brizza". In the afternoon, we have time for individual activities in Benicassim. Of course, I am still looking for a sun hat... after a rain shower at the hotel and freshening up, we walk along the beach to the restaurant "El Torreon". There, we enjoy a delicious, light tapas dinner.
Peniscola:
Peñíscola is one of the most important tourist centers in the province of Castellón.
The castle is located on a hill that juts out into the sea and transports everyone back in time to the era of knights and fortified castles that were once numerous in Maestrazgo. Pope Benedict XIII, also known as Pope Luna, chose the castle as a place of retreat from which he fought for the unity of the Catholic Church. The fortress dominates the highest point of the peninsula.
