Golden the railway city

We had a long car ride from Clearwater to Golden, 423 kilometers. We skipped dinner because we were so tired. Andy still had to remove the stitches for me because I had a tooth pulled before the trip on Sunday. So the stitches had to come out. Andy did a good job and the 5 dl of wine surely helped too. So we needed the kit....

We slept very well at the Prestige Inn, where we stayed from 23.08. - 25.08.16.

The next morning, a bit later than usual, we made our way to the Information Center. We wanted to go for a hike and it was going to be a long one, 17.5 kilometers with 700 meters of elevation gain. But first we had to drive towards Kicking Horse Pass, the name itself is interesting, since 1885 Canada's first transcontinental railway passes through the pass. So we started marching at 10:30 am and first went steeply uphill through the forest, past glacier lakes and finally steeply downhill through the ice field. We were back at the car by 6:00 pm. So we accomplished that.
