After a cozy but long drive (2 hours waiting for the ferry), we arrived at our hotel Wedgewood. First, we checked in, and then we dropped off the car at the airport. We took the Sky Train back to the city. There was still enough time to do something. We took a walk to the Waterfront, but there wasn't much going on anymore. We had a small snack at Tim Hortens.
The next morning, we met Thomas and Melanie at our place for breakfast. Then we went to 'Fly over Canada'. It is really highly recommended, you really feel like flying over Canada. Gastown with the 'Steam clock' was next on our tour. Gastown itself also has many interesting shops.
After a stop at the Apple Store, we crossed the bridge to Granville Island. There we saw a cat hotel with a veterinarian, the cats could be seen from the outside. There are many gift shops on Granville Island. We had a drink in a restaurant and then took the water taxi to Yaletown to look for a restaurant for dinner. We decided on Earl's. The food was really very good. After this cozy day together, we had to say goodbye as Melanie and Thomas continued their journey towards Vancouver Island the next morning. We gave them the bear spray for all cases.
The Capliano Suspending Bridge was our destination for the following day. We arrived by free shuttle and there were not so many people on site yet. We walked across the suspension bridge and through treetops. Of course, the 'Cliff-hanger' couldn't be missed. On the way back, we spontaneously decided to cycle around Stanley Park. Unfortunately, the weather with the rain didn't do us any favors, and we were glad when we could return the bikes.
For dinner, we walked to Yaletown again and stopped at a Greek restaurant. The food was really very good.
We still wanted to go to Lockover Vancouver, a tower with a revolving restaurant. We had a glass of wine, and Andy had a soup. Then it was time to go to the airport. Andy had to fly back today on 09/08/16.
In the city, I bought a few things and went to the hotel for an aperitif. I also had to prepare for the onward journey.
It was so beautiful and I had to do it again: 'Fly over Canada'. So the next day I went there again and enjoyed the spectacle for the senses. I had a small snack and then it was time to drive to the airport. The flight to Honolulu took 5 hours.
