After 4 hours bus ride to Burk's Falls, my host Philip picked me up at the bus stop.. I haven't been this excited in a long time. Especially because I was standing alone at the bus stop at first, thinking 'Oh my God, he forgot about me' - but he came one minute later 🙈 He welcomed me very warmly and to lighten the mood, he told me that last year there was also a girl from Germany who cried a lot at the beginning, but then didn't want to leave anymore..😄 That really relieved me. His wife Louise also welcomed me very nicely and made me a sandwich and a salad right away. They currently have 2 Mexicans here as well, whom I also got to know. Later, Philip showed me the whole property, told stories about how it looked before & what he has planned now, and so on.. For dinner, we had scalloped potatoes, green asparagus, and roast - just like at home. But for dessert, we had brownie with vanilla ice cream.. That sat heavily in the stomach 😬 Afterwards, we played Skip-Bo - luckily I already knew that game😅 All in all, I can say that the family is very nice and you really feel comfortable here! I sleep in a small wooden cabin on their property. Just 50 meters in front of my door is the lake, it's really a beautiful location! The only thing I don't like so much is that if I have to go to the toilet at night, I can only use the outhouse outside..😄 And honestly, I don't want to walk around in the dark at night..😶
Well, that's it for my first day with my host family. Good night for now! 🌙
