After long preparation and a small farewell party with our closest circle, we finally started on Sunday. From a crazy idea to reality. Chris was always looking forward to the honeymoon and the adventure, while Madlin struggled with saying goodbye to our loved ones and didn't want to go to the airport on Sunday morning.
After being surprised by two good friends who wanted to say goodbye to us during breakfast on Sunday morning, Madlin's parents took us to the airport. This was the first time we attached the third backpack and realized that we still need to work on the construction - it hangs too low. At the airport, we were surprised again: Madlin's best friend and her husband accompanied us, along with Madlin's parents, until the security check. This was followed by an emotional and tearful farewell. Madlin wanted to go back home and was encouraged by everyone with the words 'come on now'. Even the subsequent Aperol couldn't improve Madlin's mood, but Chris remained relaxed and full of anticipation.
The flight to Bangkok started one hour late because the air conditioning had failed. Unfortunately, the flight was not very relaxing as there were stronger turbulences after half of the duration - we flew through a heavy thunderstorm.
After landing in Bangkok, we freshened up and brushed our teeth in the airport bathroom. No chance for the tooth demons ('the little bear has to brush his teeth' - thanks mom (Andrea)!)
The flight to Bali went by very quickly and we both found peace to sleep. At the airport, our driver was already waiting for us, greeting us with a smile, picking us up and taking us to the hotel. On the way to the hotel, he already gave us the first tips and excursion suggestions. Maybe we will also book a trip with him as our guide.
