The First Day in Chicago

Publicerad: 22.10.2022

Hello and welcome to this blog post. I'm glad you all found your way back here.
After 2 exciting weeks at Kennedy and Washington High School and with our host families, it is time for our next big adventure. We are now heading to Chicago, Illinois.

My day started as usual at 6:30 am when my alarm clock went off. After getting ready, I packed the last few things in my suitcase. Then it was time to say goodbye to my room where I lived for 2 weeks. I went for breakfast, which usually consisted of "Lucky Charms". Lucky Charms are colorful and sweet cereals that are not available in Germany, I will miss the taste.
It's already 7:30 am and it was time for me to load all my luggage into the trunk of my host family's car. Then we headed to school. We met at 7:45 am at the school and after a sad farewell, we got on the bus for a 5-hour journey to Chicago.
When we arrived, we dropped off our suitcases at our hostel and headed to the 360° view in Chicago.
After a 40-minute walk through Chicago, we finally reached the observation deck. It was a breathtaking view.
After this adventure, we went to a burger place called "DOC B's". For starters, we had "chicken little's and fries". For the main course, we had "Buttermilk fried chicken" and a "Backyard Burger".
Afterwards, we walked along the streets in small groups and looked into various shops. Unfortunately, we didn't find anything, but we still have two days to go shopping in our free time.
After this long and exciting day, we ended the evening with small conversations and a few games of billiards in the hostel lounge.

Now our first day in Chicago comes to an end. I hope you all have a great day/evening, whenever you read this post.

Tomorrow, we will continue our adventure in Chicago, so stay tuned.

Hello and welcome back to this wonderful blog,

After an exciting two weeks at Kennedy and Washington High School, we are now starting our adventure in Chicago, Illinois.

My day started as usual at 6:30 am with my alarm clock. After getting ready for the day, I packed my remaining belongings into my suitcase and said goodbye to the room I've been staying in for the past two weeks. Time really flew by.

I had breakfast in the kitchen. This will be my last time having Lucky Charms for a while, and I will miss them.

At 7:30 am, we left the house and loaded our suitcases into the car. We then headed to school. After a heartfelt goodbye and a big hug from my host family, we boarded the bus at 7:45 am for the 5-hour journey to Chicago.

Once we arrived, we dropped off our luggage at the hostel and went to the 360 Chicago.

After checking in at the hostel, which is located in the heart of the city, we struggled a bit with our luggage. There were two elevators, but only one went up to the 4th floor, so we had to take our luggage out of one elevator and find the right one. After a quick break, we headed to the 360 Chicago observation deck. It took us about 40 minutes to walk through Chicago, and finally, we arrived at the 94th floor, where we had a 360° view of the city. It was absolutely breathtaking, with the magnificent Magnificent Mile below us.

After this amazing experience, we went to a burger place called "DOC B's".

For starters, we had "little's chicken and fries".

For the main course, we had buttermilk fried chicken and a backyard burger.

Afterwards, we split into small groups and walked along the streets, checking out various stores. Unfortunately, we didn't find anything, but we still have two days left to do some shopping in our free time.

After a long and exciting day, we ended the evening with small talks and a few games of billiards in the hostel lounge.

That's it for our first day in Chicago, Illinois. I hope you all have a wonderful day or night, whenever you're reading this blog post.

I'll see you back here tomorrow.
