Krakow - beautiful city - sad day

Publicerad: 08.11.2018

I don't need to say much about the old town. It is really very beautiful. But somehow Gdansk remains my secret favorite. Maybe simply because I am slowly getting tired of seeing churches everywhere :-D

Historically, the city has the most to offer. Much more than I could visit in these few days. To get a crash course, I took a 3-hour tourist tour with a small electric car. As a result, I was able to see the old town, the Jewish quarter, and the old Jewish ghetto. Those who wanted to could visit the factory or museum of Oskar Schindler. Since I was the only one, the driver picked me up after 1.5 hours and gave me a private tour with some insider information. It was definitely worth it.

From the walls of Wawel Castle, you have a magnificent view. I actually only went up because I had time to kill on the last evening. But I absolutely did not regret it.

Yesterday I took the night bus from Krakow to Budapest, where I'm currently sitting in a McDonald's. Eight hours of driving and the bus was completely full - I thought my ass was dead. But slowly I'm regaining feeling...

On Tuesday, I experienced the saddest part of my trip and took a trip to Auschwitz concentration camp.

You know all these images and the events from school. But realizing everything again exactly at the scene was really tough. I had to fight back tears at some points.

I don't want to say much about it - especially since I'm still processing it myself. Everyone should have this experience. No...it should be mandatory.
'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.' - George Santayana

With this quote on the wall, I entered the first block and have been desperately asking myself since then how right-wing phrases could become socially acceptable again so few years later.....

I won't go into detail and can only advise everyone to have this experience themselves.
