16.08 Øysand - Forest near Grindal 105km

Publicerad: 19.08.2020

I started the day around 8:30 packing everything up, having breakfast, and off I went around 10 am. I felt refreshed and fit. The first 35km along the E6 highway were on new bike paths, with a tailwind. They flew by effortlessly. The fastest way to Oslo would be to follow the E6 for 520km. However, on my rest day, I decided to take a slightly longer route that goes through less busy roads and more beautiful landscapes. This means more distance and more elevation gain. It loosely follows the Olovs-Weg, a pilgrim trail that leads to Spain through Europe. After a day of rest, I also felt mentally fresher and more motivated as I now have the whole way to Oslo ahead of me. Riding through the mountains was fun, collecting vertical meters and reaching speeds of 65km/h downhill. Not to mention the views. In case you haven't heard, the weather today was fantastic. At 86km, I passed by an ideal place to sleep, but I still felt so fresh that I wanted to ride for another hour. However, it wasn't easy to find a spot in the forest after 105km. I managed to find something, not too far from the road, flat, dry, and with no ant hills nearby, but not completely isolated either... not so easy with over 100km in my legs. After setting up and having pasta, I quickly went to sleep.
