...and today is one of those days.
Nothing happened, the drive from Taupo to Wellington went from beautiful scenery to 'this looks like home' (almost boring) and in terms of nature, we've seen pretty much everything on the North Island.
In Wellington itself, we were able to fill the day with more than just the drive south.
We joined a tour of the Weta Workshops and learned how Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Oin, Gloin, Thorin, all the other dwarves, and the rest of the characters in Lord of the Rings got their armor and weapons. And guess what?! They weren't forged in Middle-earth, but in Wellington... And some of them aren't even made of metal.
But the Weta Workshops are not only responsible for props in Lord of the Rings. They have also worked on films like Thor, Amazing Spiderman, Narnia, District 9, and many others that I can't remember.
Unfortunately, I can't show you any photos of that since photography is not allowed there (which seemed to annoy some Chinese tourists quite a bit). But I can show you three beauties that were allowed to be photographed:
