Day 12 - What luck...,
... that we finally managed to take a picture of a stork's nest.😊 We have been seeing storks in various forms for days - walking by the roadside, standing in the meadow, in a larger group, flying (wow, large wingspan!😎), sitting in the nest. But the car was always too fast or the phone was too slow... So, today we have a - albeit bad - stork nest photo.🙄 Storks bring luck (not only for children!), it is said. So we have collected a lot of luck in the last few days!👍🍀
And I also captured one of the typical bus stops. As already mentioned - on the highway!🛣🚎 Pedestrians have to walk next to the road...😳 There is no way to the bus stop.🙈
So, now on to the real sightseeing:
Morning - Circling a peninsula in Laheema National Park: Admired the boulder 'Jaani-Tooma Suurkivi' (7.5m high, 35m circumference), rocked (giant thing!😊) and viewed art in the village of Viinistu. The animals have decided to go to Reykjavik, because they want to go there again.🤓 After no one picked up the suitcase, they got back in with us.😁🚙
Something that looks like art is actually a clever device for drying pants!😎👍 Clever! Well, it's intended for fishing pants... Estonians probably dry their regular pants differently.😊👖
In the afternoon we reached Tallinn. Old Hanseatic city, medieval city center (UNESCO World Heritage Site), important ferry port (Helsinki is only 80km away), modern metropolis (new office towers, aesthetically pleasing residential areas, etc.).
Today we wandered through the first old town alleys, circled the castle hill and followed the city wall. First impression: Wow, such a beautiful city!🤩👌😎🏰💒
There's something to discover around every corner, you can't keep up with the sightseeing.🤓 And everything is very tidy and neat, no construction sites.👍
In the Holy Spirit Church, violin players and organists rehearsed for a joint concert.🎼🎻 Wonderful to listen to.
Although there are of course many tourists on the way, the atmosphere is cozy. Prices are at the level of a big city. Beer for 6€ - okay, it was in a brewery right next to the town hall square.😊
Today we ordered the typical appetizer 'Garlic Bread' (Kepta Duona) for the first time: Toasted slices of black bread, spread with garlic, served with herb dip. Fantastic!😋
There are also photos of the pharmacy: Founded in 1422 and still in operation. Of course, now up to date...💊🧴 But there are still old utensils on display. A bit creepy...😊🐊🐸🤚
You can also see that Tallinn is booming from the many key boxes that can be opened with a code: Airbnb!🔑
And parking in the old town is exorbitant!🙄💰 Fortunately, we are parking relatively cheaply at the hotel compared to that: 30€ for two nights.🚙
Tomorrow we will go to the city wall and castle hill. Tallinn, we are excited!🤗😎
