Bruny Island

After the long birthday weekend, it was time to explore Tasmania, so we set off by car to Bruny Island. After about half an hour, we arrived in Kettering, where the ferry to the island departs. We even got a seat in the front row.

Once we arrived on the island, we decided to drive around the entire island and then visit the individual attractions that Emilia had told us about the day before. So our first destination was Cape Bruny lighthouse, located in the south of the island, which we reached at 10:30 am after a drive of about 1.5 hours. The journey there was very exciting as we were surrounded by a completely new environment, and the view from the lighthouse was magnificent.

Mhmmm, wine and burgers!

Next stop was a winery where we had a delicious lunch. I had a burger with wallaby and lamb mince, and Simone tried some specialties from the region. We even did a small wine and cider tasting and discovered that Australia has excellent wine.

The Neck

The Neck lookout was our next destination, and by looking at the pictures, you can immediately guess where the name comes from. A viewing platform on a hill allows you to see two beaches - a truly special view. There were signs on the platform saying that you might also see penguins here. Firstly, I didn't know that there are penguins in Tasmania, and secondly, unfortunately, we didn't see any of these very rare animals :(

Oysters for Simone

Next, we went to an oyster farm where Simone ordered 12 delicious oysters. I tried one, but no, it's definitely not for me, as my facial expression clearly shows.

What suited my taste more was the chocolate that we bought at the chocolate factory.

As we still had plenty of time until the last ferry ride, we decided to drive all the way to the north of the island to Dennes Point so that we could truly see the entire island. We arrived at the ferry at 7:00 pm and headed back to Hobart.

A fantastic day on an impressively beautiful island!!
