Day 23/29 - from Franschhoek to Scarborough

After the suitcases were packed and the car was loaded, we set off for a picnic. We had booked the picnic at the Boschendal winery online in advance. The winery is currently getting quite a bit of hype online (for us - completely unjustified). We had eaten and picked up something in the restaurant there the evening before (since it was only 5 minutes away from our accommodation and the selection of restaurants in the evening was quite limited). The food wasn't bad but we've eaten better and much cheaper everywhere else in South Africa.
But the picnic was very nice and the food was delicious. By chance we met a family who had already flown there with us and who we had met twice on the trip by chance. We then had the picnic together while the adults played together 🥰 So you can have the picnic at the winery, but next time we would rather do it somewhere else (many wineries offer them; we liked Spier much better).
Then we went on to our last holiday home in Scarborough, south of Cape Town. The house is located on a hillside with a view of the sea. What a great ending 🤩The apartment is beautifully furnished and spacious and the terrace is of course amazing. The only problem is the forest fires that were here recently and the ash that comes through every crack 🙈 The hosts had offered us a free cancellation in advance or cleaning help, which we can use at any time. Everyone was super friendly and very accommodating 😌 And the area here is fantastic 🤩
