Cape Town 2nd day

Diterbitkeun: 26.05.2024

25.5.2024 Cape Town

Today started with an unusual breakfast. The Radisson Blu breakfast buffet offered the usual things as well as ice-cold oysters and champagne. I tried both, but I'm still not a fan.

Then our scheduled city tour began. Since the weather was good, we started with a visit to Table Mountain. We had to wait over an hour before we could finally get into one of the cable car gondolas.

The wait was worth it: we had a great view of Cape Town, the sea, Table Mountain itself and the neighboring mountains. I quenched my thirst with a beer and enjoyed the view.

After an hour we met for a group photo and the descent into the valley together.

Our next stop was the Camps Bay district, located right on the coast and accordingly lively. There we had a lunch break at our own leisure. I decided on the highly rated Mantra Café on the first floor, which not only had an interesting interior, but also offered an excellent mussel dish and a wonderful view of the beach.

We then drove to the historic city center, visited the Botanical Park where I discovered an albino squirrel, continued walking past old buildings and a section of the Berlin Wall, visited a market and finally the colorful artists' quarter.

Afterwards we were able to relax in the hotel for 1 1/2 hours before the highlight of the day came: the 12-course menu in the Gold restaurant, with a drum introduction, African music and dance, all to accompany the authentic African cuisine.

I found the drumming annoying, but I enjoyed most of the small dishes.

We returned to the hotel quite exhausted.
