Our second day in Plettenberg Bay started off just as active as the previous days. Today, we went on a canyoning tour through 'The Crags', a mountain range located 20 minutes north of Plettenberg Bay. Upon arriving at a camp, we met our guides Steph and Darren. Our equipment, consisting of helmets, wetsuits, and harnesses, was already laid out on the benches and tables. After a brief briefing and getting dressed, we boarded a bus with our guides and two other vacationers from Germany and headed to the canyon. During the ride, we received some safety instructions. Safety was a top priority throughout the entire tour.
Once we got off the minibus, we walked approximately 150m until we used our climbing gear to abseil about 10m down. After arriving safely at the bottom, we took a small jump into the cold water of the canyon. Thanks to the good weather and our wetsuits, it was a refreshing experience. From then on, we let ourselves drift with the water of the canyon. We also had to hike a few meters on foot. This continued for the next two hours. Jumping - Climbing - Abseiling - Swimming. The highlights were definitely a jump from about 7 meters parallel to a small waterfall and abseiling amidst a waterfall that was about 15 meters deep. At the end of the tour, there was a short but steep zipline before we had to make the somewhat strenuous ascent out of the canyon.
After about two hours, the tour in a jungle-like canyon with two super nice and funny guides was already over. After the adrenaline rush in the morning, we had something to eat in town before spending the afternoon at the pool.
