The first month in South Africa has already passed, and especially due to the current developments in Germany, I am incredibly grateful to be able to spend my time in this wonderful place on earth.
And last Thursday, there was another highlight - I saw my first whale. However, only from a distance, so there are no pictures of it, but this probably means that the whales are slowly coming to Hermanus - the best whale watching spot in South Africa - and I definitely did not expect that during my stay. I'm curious if I'll get to see them up close!
On Friday, I enjoyed a bit of wellness, and on Saturday, I went shopping, so on Sunday, I had to go out into nature. And one of the highlights that was missing was Cape Point. This southwesternmost point of South Africa, including Cape of Storms & Cape of Good Hope, offers great hiking trails and unique views of the Atlantic. Unfortunately, the Two Oceans Restaurant is not recommended.
After spending a few hours here, I drove back to Cape Town and made a stop at Chapman's Peak Drive - a wonderful coastal road with a view of Hout Bay. However, caution is advised here, as the winds are usually very strong and there have been numerous accidents.
Finally, I ended the day at the beach in Camps Bay, where I could already see the moon from Lion's Head.
Now I still have about a week left in Cape Town, and then I have 2.5 weeks of vacation ahead of me, and I'm very excited to see what awaits me, as the trip is planned with our partner agency, because sometimes you have to take advantage of the benefits of working in tourism!
