Isabela Island & Santa Cruz

Diterbitkeun: 14.06.2019

After a lot of coffee - as a remedy for the headache - we slowly crawled towards the turtle breeding station. The path there led through a beautiful mangrove forest and in a larger pool there were even some flamingos. At the Turtle Center, we learned that the large turtles are used for breeding and as soon as their babies are 5 years old, they are released. In the center, you could hear the sound of the sea and since it was very warm, we quickly ended our tour and walked to the beach.

Daniela lay in the shade and I just wanted to go into the water. I have to say about the water, I have never seen such turquoise clear water before. Well, I wanted to jump into the water with enthusiasm when suddenly a bigger shark swam away from the beach. DANIELAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.....I ran out of the water. There is a shark and it is different when you go swimming or snorkeling :-(! Daniela said, come on, go swimming, the sharks don't do anything. With a queasy feeling, I still dared to go into the water.

Unfortunately, today we have to say goodbye to Isabela Island. We really liked it here, as it is not touristy at all. There are hardly any souvenir shops, no big supermarket, only a few restaurants. Isabela has its very own charm and we were already sad to leave.

In Santa Cruz we arrived around 4:45 pm and with joy we noticed that a festival was about to take place. People had set up stands everywhere at the harbor and then an actual parade came. It was fun watching the different groups and the atmosphere was great. The restaurants placed all their tables in the middle of the street and it looked great when so many people were sitting there eating. Of course, we also took a seat and ate delicious food. With full bellies, we went back to the pier and watched the little sharks there. They really look so cute. After a while, we went back to the hotel and just wanted to go to bed. The speedboat taxi ride from Isabela was very tiring.

We have to be fit again tomorrow because the next excursion is coming up.

Greetings from Santa Cruz send Anke & Daniela
