Take some time to recover with tea in the sun

Diterbitkeun: 06.02.2018

I'm feeling a bit better already today. The medication is working.

To celebrate the day, I cooked 'German soup'. It's a little unusual to eat hot soup when it's over 30 degrees, but Meche liked it too!

To give my belly some relief, we decided to spend the afternoon relaxed in the garden.

We actually planned to use her niece's small wading pool as a cool-down. Unfortunately, it was as warm as a bathtub after about 1 hour :-D

But it was still good for my belly, and the slight breeze cooled us down a bit.

In the evening when it was a bit cooler, I went with Meche and Sergio to a familiar but newly renovated, converted shopping mall: Shopping del Sol.

The traffic rules in Paraguay are quite simple: there are practically none :-D For motorcycle riders, even less. I can easily buy a driver's license here without any practice or theory lessons, which costs about 20€.

Hardly anyone can afford this shopping mall. Stores like Longchamp, Swarovski, or Desigual are targeting the few tourists or the small upper class.

In the entrance area of the center, there are food stalls one after the other. In addition to local fast-food chains, you can also find BurgerKing and Co., which attracts the 'normal' people to the shopping center.

Since we were all hungry, but I can't eat anything greasy because of my stomach, I decided to treat myself to 10 sushi for 2.50€.

Meche and Sergio bought the standard burger from BurgerKing, which simply has a slice of ham on it :-D

The coolest thing the center has to offer by far is a cool arcade.
If a child wants to try out various games for 1 hour, it can easily cost a Paraguayan with an average income a fifth of their monthly income.

The last highlight of the center was a high society supermarket that had EVERYTHING: Deli-Market.
For Paraguayans, the store is a real show! Fruits and vegetables are meticulously packaged, there are many imported products, and in the meat section, you can buy whole Serrano hams.
But I'm really curious what our dear Edeka has to do with it:

Delicatessen pickles for almost 6€... :-P

I don't understand what this shopping center is supposed to be good for in a country like Paraguay.
