Kruger National Park

Diterbitkeun: 07.02.2020

Landing in Johannesburg, the first important tasks of withdrawing money and buying a SIM card were quickly completed. I then took the bus to the accommodation, from which I was picked up the next morning. Not only did I have a private driver for the seven-hour drive, but there was also no one else at the camp near Kruger National Park. Actually, I like people...

In the afternoon, the first game drive awaited me at Tshukudu Game Reserve. In addition to an elephant, giraffes, impalas, and kudus, my personal highlight was a hippo. We leisurely watched it while enjoying a glass of wine and Amarula. In the evening, I met two girls at the camp (the only other guests besides me) with whom I spent the evening. In the tent, I could process the impressions and quickly fall asleep amidst the chirping of crickets and the roar of lions.

The next morning, we went to Kruger National Park at 5:30 am. And behold, no other guests joined the tour, so I had my own personal tour guide. What others pay a lot of money for,... I found it amazing, and during breaks, I always found someone to chat with. Overwhelmed by the impressions, I didn't even notice the missing lens in my sunglasses. That's why people were smiling at me. In temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius and very high humidity, we explored the park and saw elephants, giraffes, zebras, eagles, vultures, a turtle, a crocodile, and monkeys, among others. Unfortunately, the cats didn't show themselves in the heat, but it was still a goosebump-inducing feeling to drive through the homeland of all these wonderful creatures. With wind-blown hair and a subtle sunburn, we began the journey back. I'm spending the night alone at the camp, but with the experiences in my mind, I will quickly disappear into dreamland.
