Today we set off for Strasbourg. It's about 35 km from Molsheim, so a short trip :-)
After a few detours (the GPS wanted to offer a scenic route instead of going straight to the city center) we - as often - got a preferred parking space in the most central location...and of course in the shade.
Just around the corner was the cathedral:
next to it was the Maison Kammerzell:
The cathedral is really huge!
Inside there was a lot to see: the organ, the astronomical clock, the angel columns.
What fascinated me the most were the double rows of windows!
Afterwards, we indulged in some coffee at the Marché aux Poissons and then headed to the old tannery district.
Here are beautiful old half-timbered houses:
In between, we tried some Tibetan momos. A kind of steamed noodle pocket with various fillings and a very tasty dip with coriander and chili.
Then we walked back along the river.
Here, there were shady spots under trees for a little break, because it was already summery hot again.
Once we arrived back at the starting point, we headed towards the European Parliament after another coffee boost.
My conclusion about Strasbourg: a very beautiful city with a great atmosphere. Everywhere there are small squares with shady trees and rest areas, old half-timbered houses but also a European metropolis. I will definitely go there again!
In the evening, we had an excellent dinner at d'Olivar in Soultz-le-bain (http://www.lolivar.fr)
Best regards and see you soon!
