With Slovenia, we had the feeling of being back in Central Europe, and at times we were even reminded of Switzerland. This country offers many beautiful landscapes, it is green, hilly, and looks very tidy.
We stayed on a farm twice. At the winegrower's, surrounded by vineyards, it felt like being in the Slovenian Tuscany. We liked it even better on an ancient homestead, right next to the cow and goat stable. The city of Maribor was nice but rather boring for us. Maribor is known for its ski races, which is hard to imagine for us, as the city mountain is more like a hill. Nevertheless, we took a cable car trip and went for a hike in the mountains. On the toboggan run, we finally got a feeling for speed like the ski racers.
On the other hand, we were thrilled with Ljubljana, the second city we visited. A small atmospheric city by the river. Many exciting shops and lovely cafes invite you to linger, all car-free. We would also recommend a city trip here.
The highlight was the large and impressive Postojna Cave, which we visited on the only rainy day.
