South Africa Bimmel Bammel Tour 2024 Day 2

Diterbitkeun: 13.11.2024

Africa again greets us with a bright blue sky—as if the sun is personally calling out a "Good Morning!" to us! First, we enjoy a coffee on the balcony and let our eyes wander over this dreamy landscape. A true Instagram moment!

Then it’s time for breakfast, and we are looking forward to all the treats that await us. Today, we share the 10-person table with a family of four from the Lower Rhine. We quickly strike up a conversation and learn that they have now reached the last stop of their three-day South Africa trip in Hout Bay. We exchange stories and enjoy the interaction.

But suddenly, Kevin and his wife sit down with us. Boom, it becomes clear to all of us what we’ve done wrong on our last South Africa trips. And yes, the annoying topic of diarrhea comes up again—just to avoid a parking fine!

Kevin is as clever as a fox. His wife, on the other hand, sits quietly and has obviously given up trying to keep her husband from talking nonsense.

Lennart, the son of the family, was so annoyed by Kevin’s explanations that he preferred to sip his coffee in the room.

Poor youth, they simply don't want to learn from the best! 😂

After breakfast, we decide to head to the in-house beach, Sandy Beach. It's only about a 10-minute walk from the guesthouse—no problem, we think! The path takes us through dense shrubs and over a sandy ground. Suddenly, a snake darts out of the bushes and crosses my path—I almost had a heart attack! I mean, who needs an adrenaline rush during a beach walk?!

After my heartbeat has calmed down, Kai suggests simply throwing a stone into the bushes as we walk by. A clever plan! An experienced rancher thinks that way, but I can only imagine what brilliant snake-repelling tactic Kevin has in mind!

I don’t want to visualize that at this point 🤦‍♂️

When we reach Sandy Beach, we are almost alone—only a handful of nudist friends have wandered here. Wow, we've rarely seen such an untouched beach! We stroll through the freezing cold water and enjoy this wonderful patch of earth.

After the nudists have made themselves scarce, I take the opportunity to launch my drone and film the nature from above. Maybe this will be the next blockbuster: "Drone Adventures at Sandy Beach"!

The return trip through the sand to the guesthouse turns out to be more difficult than expected, but hey, it was absolutely worth it!

Now we want to get the leather boots project going and head back to the market. The only one satisfied with the fit of the boots was Kristina. She now has super stylish boots, ready for winter—the winter can come now!

Since we are already here, we also try the local craft beer. The market practically calls for a relaxed stay! Conclusion on the craft beer: Please skip the raspberry-flavored one—that was a mistake!

Kai quickly grabbed a Wagyu burger as a snack, which was simply amazing. Steffi opted for a falafel, which was also one of a kind. Just as we were about to leave, Kai managed to grab two cheesecakes—unnecessary but incredibly delicious. We stay until the market closes and are kindly asked to leave—that’s a good sign!

Back to the guesthouse!

We are now in the right mood to relax by the pool. Unfortunately, fate has other plans, as out of nowhere comes a downpour! So everyone has found their own way to relax while we get ready for dinner.

For tonight, we have booked fine dining at Tintswalo Atlantic. The reviews are great, and we are curious to see if the expectations are met. The terrace is almost at sea level—dreamy! Access is via a special shuttle, as the road is not passable by a regular car. Perfect for enjoying a breathtaking sunset—if only it weren't for the rain!

The five-course menu is served with matching wine. The ambiance and the staff are excellent, the food and wines are very good, but overall, we are not completely satisfied with the price-performance ratio and thus wouldn’t recommend it unreservedly.

With Uber, we head back to the guesthouse. Yet again, a day in Africa has come to an end, and we go to bed satisfied, dreaming of what new adventures await us tomorrow.

Good night, Africa!
