Dear all,
today I walked about 20 km from the small village of Wünschensuhl to Vacha, the endpoint of the Via Regia or the Ecumenical Way of St. James. So, I have completed the first stage of my pilgrimage :). Starting tomorrow, I will continue on the second stage - from the Röhn Mountains to the Danube. However, this time not all the way to the endpoint Ulm, but from Vacha via Bad Kissingen and Würzburg to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. But more on that in the upcoming posts.
In Vacha, there used to be a restricted area when Germany was still divided. Since November 12th, 1989, the Werratal Bridge can be freely crossed again.
By the way, the bizarre mountain is actually an artificial pile made by humans during potash mining. And the mountain keeps growing...
Unfortunately, it rained all day today... the 20 km seemed surprisingly long :D. It's supposed to stay dry tomorrow, but the rest of the days don't look so good. Well, let's see.
Rainy greetings from Vacha.
